king gizzard and the lizard wizard is an australian band that formed in 2010 and released their first album in 2012, consisting of stu mackenzie, ambrose kenny-smith, cook "cookie" craig, joey walker, michael cavanagh, lucas harwood, and previously, eric moore. they started off doing punky sounding garage rock before going into all sorts of variety. they're mainly known for their tendecy to dabble and re-dabble into different genres and other music things for each album, including but not limited to thrash metal, edm, prog rock, krautrock, and microtones

my introduction to gizz is pretty straightforward. i think me and one of my friends were chatting together and it told me that i shld check them out. in it's words (verbatim), "there will be at least a few things in their discography that you'll enjoy", so i added them to my list of things i procrastinate on getting into until like a few months later when i went "y'know fuck it" and put them on to listen to. they've pretty much gone up there as one of my favorite music artists/bands

most of the album covers, music videos, and concert posters are done by an artist called jason galea, the covers and posters are especially my favorites, and i enjoy taking art inspiration from them
